Monthly treats for pampered pets proved a successful business idea for one group of teenagers at a Dragons’ Den-style event held at a college in Somerset.
Kiera Rowe, Beth Parker and Phoebe Kibble from Worle Community School came out on top with their PetBox idea at this year’s Enterprise 4 U Schools Business Challenge.
The idea involved a monthly box full of treats for pets, with different themes for each month.
The teenagers had to battle six other teams of year nine and 10 students to the winning spot.
The event is in its eighth year and it is the second year it has been sponsored by Weston College.
Progression and information advice and guidance co-ordinator for the college, Ben Cocks, said: “This event has been an excellent example of how schools, the college and local businesses can work together to raise aspirations of young people in the town.
“It is a pleasure to be able to sponsor this event, which is an initiative we hope will continue to grow and evolve.”
The winning team were given £250 of high street vouchers and will visit the University of the West of England to have their plan looked at by a top lecturer.
