Pet shop hopes TV exposure will help to make it profitable

The men behind pet shop Creature Company are hoping their appearance on BBC2's hit programme 'The Fixer' will help to drive customers into their Wimbledon store and make it a profitable business.
Owner Sebastian Latour and partner Carl Houghton, who is general manager of the store, filmed the programme presented by Alex Polizzi last year, but it wasn't screened in the UK until this month.
"We had a lot of people in the shop on the day after the programme was aired on BBC2," said Carl. "Business has certainly picked up and we're hoping we've turned a corner.
"But it would be wrong to base our future business on what's happened since the programme was shown. The next six months are crucial when all the hype has died down and people have forgotton that we appeared on 'The Fixer'. But we are optimistic."
Carl had mixed feelings about the programme, and particularly how he was portrayed.
"I didn't come across too well and as a result I received a lot of stick on social media," added Carl. "But I've had a lot of support too, which has been great.
“Alex certainly helped us with the ‘look’ of the shop, But we have been left a little bit on our own when it comes to marketing. We have our own ideas, however, on how we can keep attracting people into the store."
Carl is looking forward to attending PATS Sandown on March 17-18, and seeing all the new products being launched on to the market.
"Last year we went to PATS with the production crew and spent most of the time filming. This year it will be great to meet pet suppliers and chat to them about stocking their products."
