Around 200 reptiles are being transported back to their home in the Cattle Market after they were safely rescued from the fire which ripped through the site.

A huge fire which broke out in the Cattle Market threatened to spread to the reptile store, endangering the animals living there.

Tim Zinsaz, 35, has owned Internet Reptile on Clarke Road, near Meadow Lane for around 10 years.

The store sells various reptiles including bearded dragons, geckos, tortoises, frogs and snakes.

Members of the community and workers from the store banded together to transfer the 200 animals to Internet Reptile's second base in Carlton.

All the animals were all safely and successfully moved away from the fire.

And now the business has started moving the animals back to their Cattle Market home on Clarke Road after the building fortunately suffered minor exterior damage.

Mr Zinsaz said: "We moved all the animals out when it was unclear what would happen and it was a bit stressful but now we are in the process of getting them all back.

"We moved some of the more delicate animals back and now we are slowly transporting the rest back.

"We have been unaffected by the fire apart from having to move. We are lucky that we can move back and all the animals are safe and well."

One of the reptiles, a giant Argentine Tegu lizard named Onyx has become something of a store celebrity.

Mr Zinsaz added Onyx was staying with the business owner until he could be moved back to the store, due to his size.
