PATS Harrogate is set to be the largest ever

With still five months to go before opening its doors to visitors, PATS Harrogate is set to be the largest pet trade exhibition ever staged.

It will be the second year that PATS Harrogate takes place on a Sunday and Monday in September, and a total of 103 exhibitors have already confirmed they will be attending.

An increasing number of companies are recognising PATS as an essential place to showcase their product ranges and services, and the Harrogate showpiece will see a host of new exhibitors.

Mutneys Professional Pet Care Range will join other newcomers AQUAMAT, Little Friends, Precious Pets, Marriage’s, Lovejoys, Simpsons, Fisherman’s Daughter, Snug and Cosy and CEVA Animal Health, at PATS Harrogate on September 15-16.

Mutneys marketing manager Ruth Martin said: “We are really looking forward to exhibiting at Harrogate, as we have visited the show over the last few years and feel it truly represents the pet industry in the UK.

“We will be bringing our range of professional grooming equipment and also our retail range. These include our newest shampoos, Furry Godmother shampoo (general purpose) and Golden Caramel shampoo (for brown dogs), which we love and can't wait to show to the rest of the pet industry.”

And Sam Marriage, from bird and small animal food producers Marriage’s, admitted: “Being new to PATS we didn’t know what to expect at Sandown in March but the outcome was very encouraging. We’re hopeful that the Autumn show will be just as successful.”

Some companies like Ancol, Aristocrat, Armstrong & Richardson, CJ's Cat Litter and Earthbound are unique to Harrogate while visitors can expect a warm welcome from PATS regulars like KONG, James Wellbeloved, Royal Canin, Hill’s Pet Nutrition, Bern Pet Food, Mars Pet Care, Johnson's Veterinary Products and Sharples & Grant.

“The September dates complement the spring Sandown show perfectly and the Sunday-Monday exhibition days work really well,” said Paul Pugh, of Sharples & Grant.

Colin Rodger from Bern Pet Food believes that opening PATS on a Sunday is a great idea. “For many independent retailers it is the only day they can get away to visit a show. And the September date gives us a great advantage – the opportunity to launch new products during the autumn. Last year some of our southern customers travelled to Harrogate especially to see us for that reason, as well as many retailers from the north of England.”

Meanwhile, Smaranda Jim from Nose-2-Tail said: “PATS is a great opportunity to meet existing and potential retailers, both local and from abroad. Harrogate has been a very lucrative show for us with many new retailers coming on board. We are looking forward to further cement existing relationships as well as showcase our products, including launching new ones.”

Last year’s PATS Harrogate attracted 1,813 visitors, which was an 8% increase on 2011 show when it was held in April.

The exhibition will have the same layout as in 2012, using Harrogate Main visitor entrance in Hall M.

PATS Harrogate will also be full of popular visitor features, including the New Products Showcase and Awards, a full programme of free seminars, and the Grooming Workshop.
