Allowing pets in bedroom at night is good for sleep
Allowing pets in the bedroom during night doesn’t always disrupt sleep but can be beneficial too, shows a study.
To study the influence of pets on sleep, researchers from Arizona interviewed 150 people registered at the Centre for Sleep Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona.
Almost half of the participants had pets, more than half allowed their pet to sleep in their bedroom and 31 pet owners had more than one animal in their homes.
Fifteen participants reported pet-related sleep disturbances in the bedroom caused by wandering, snoring, whimpering of pets.
Thirty-one participants felt that the presence of animals helped them sleep better as they provided comfort and companionship or served as bed warmers.
