A pet shop based on Telford Forge Retail Park, which fell into administration at the end of August, has closed with the loss of 36 jobs.
Philip Duffy and Sarah Bell, partners of financial advisory and investment banking firm Duff & Phelps, were appointed as joint administrators of J&A Pets Ltd on 27 August 2013. The business traded as Petstop.
Following their appointment, the pair took the decision to close the store and all the employees were made redundant.
Duffy said: "The company had been loss making for some time. After a review of the business the directors chose to voluntarily put the company into administration.
"As part of the administration we have had to unfortunately close the store and make all 36 employees redundant with effect from 28th August as the financial position of the company was such that it could no longer trade.
"We have informed the employees that the store is unlikely to reopen in the immediate future. This situation may, however, change in the instance a buyer is secured."
