Canterbury's Lord Mayor will cut the red ribbon tomorrow (Friday) for the opening of a new Pets at Home store.
The Lord Mayor, Councillor Sally Waters and her escort, Mr Robert Waters will officiate the opening of the new store which will open its doors at 9.30am.
The new store will open in the former Comet premises in Sturry Road.
Pet lovers in Canterbury will get the chance to see the Vets4Pets practice and the Groom Room at the opening of the store.
The Vets4Pets practice will house a full operating theatre, digital X-ray facilities, in-house laboratory and a hospital ward providing a full range of treatments from health checks to emergency operations.
The Groom Room will offer a wide range of services including full grooming, bath and blow dry, puppy grooming and nail clipping, which are all important to a pet's health and well-being.
The retailer has invested more than £400,000 in the new store opening.
Meanwhile, another new Pets At Home store is now open for business at the new Technology Retail Park in Rugby.
Developed by regeneration specialist, St Modwen, the retail park forms part of the £70million mixed use redevelopment of the former Alstom site.
Peter Rudd, senior development surveyor at St. Modwen, said: “Technology Retail Park really complements the rest of our Rugby regeneration scheme, which is a true mixed use development that includes a college, housing and employment.
“We only conceived the idea for the retail park in 2013, so to have planned, developed and sold it within two years is a real achievement for St. Modwen and the team.”
A spokesperson for Pets at Home said: “We’ve been looking forward to coming back to Rugby for a long time and are thrilled to occupy a purpose-built store at the Technology Drive Retail Park.
“With the addition of a larger customer offer, Groom Room and Vets4Pets practice, we have also been able to recruit more colleagues from the local community.
“So far our new Rugby store is surpassing all expectations and we look forward to welcoming even more pet owners to the store.”
