Marwan Elboury, 20, became an online sensation after a photo of him strolling along the road in Peckham with his ducks, named Donald and Daffy, was posted on Twitter on Easter Monday.
The pet shop assistant, who works at The Garden Centre Aquatics in Rye Lane, said he is increasingly recognised by locals.
In an interview with ITV London, he said he had owned the pair since they hatched at his home in June 2011.
Despite becoming notorious on the internet, he said the "original shock" from people in his home town had "died down".
But he added he does not always get a positive response passers-by.
He said: "Well originally you had two types of people. There would be ones who would stare in shock and horror, and go as far as crossing the road or leaving the bus or Tube.
"And the others who love them and want to stroke them, ask questions and take lots of pictures."
He continued: "But now I’ve taken them out so often, places like Peckham High Street are familiar with them and that original shock of people seems to have died down.
"They still however get very big responses when they are on public transport especially when someone doesn't realise they are real on first glance – that’s a facial expression I will never tire of."
