PATS Sandown 2016 New Product Awards revealed


The winners of the PATS Sandown 2016 New Product Awards were chosen by a team of expert pet retail judges, who arrived at the show before 9am on Tuesday, March 22, in order to make their choices from an impressive number of new products entered.

Their decisions took into account a number of guideline criteria such as product innovation, design, quality, packaging and value for money.

The judges agreed that the New Product Showcase had produced a high calibre of entries with a tremendous amount of innovation. They were pleased to see such a wide range of products, and felt the majority of items on display showed some great innovation. They were also impressed with the level of technology-linked products on display.

Here is a full list of the winners together with the judges’ comments:

CAT PRODUCT

Cat Botanicals from KONG


The judges felt the winning entry is a really innovative product. It is very well priced and comes in eye-catching packaging. This is a ‘must-buy’ product for cat lovers.

DOG FOOD AND TREATS

Winner
Piccolo range of dog food from Symply Pet Foods



The winner’s prize goes to a range of dog food that is British made, is grain free and has 75% meat content. The packaging is also extremely attractive. The judges were unanimous in their decision to award this prize to a company that fully supports the independent pet trade.

DOG ACCESSORY PRODUCT

Durasoft from KONG



The judges awarded the winner’s prize to a product that is bright and colourful and is also extremely good value for money. They said pet owners can rely on this company to provide great products for dogs.

BIRD PRODUCT

Quebec Rainforest Cage from Sky Pet Products



The winning product is a robust bird cage which also looks good. The judges felt the cage was the perfect size.

SMALL ANIMAL PRODUCT

The judges said that everything is right about the winning product, from the great packaging to the excellent ingredients. They described it as a ‘Pocket Money’ treat as young pet owners would be able to afford the £1.90 price tag.

PET CARE PRODUCT

Winner
Natural De-Stress & Calming Atomiser from Pet Remedy



The winning product was described as being both ‘innovative and versatile’. It can also be used to calm a wide range of animals. It’s also very well priced.

GROOMING PRODUCT

Winner
Shampoo range from For All DogKind



The judges liked the fact that this range of pet shampoo contained natural ingredients. The packaging gave the product a quality feel.

GIFTWARE PRODUCT

Winner
Cockerel and Peacock decorative animals from Supa Ltd



The final category – Best Giftware Product - is new to PATS, and the judges were attracted to a range of garden animals. They were colourful, sturdy and looked cool.
