Vet Liz Barton joins Companion Consultancy as Senior Account Manager

Companion Consultancy, the PR and marketing agency run by vets, has appointed Liz Barton, vet and co-founder of the WellVet initiative, to the role of Senior Account Manager.

Liz will be involved in all aspects of the business, delivering the wide range of services provided by Companion Consultancy. She shares the company’s vision to use its veterinary insights to support businesses and expand and develop additional projects, including Veterinary Woman.

Liz graduated in 2004 and has enjoyed a varied veterinary career, including mixed practice in Cumbria, small animal internship, ECC and shelter medicine. The wellbeing of the profession became an increasing concern and inspired Liz to create the free online resource hub www.vetsnet.net in 2017. Liz has developed a deep understanding of human factors affecting the veterinary team. She has also developed skills in web development, marketing and social media and the forward step into PR and marketing builds on this experience.

Liz has collaborated on a number of projects, including co-founding WellVet to host sports and wellbeing weekends. She is also a member of the working group which delivered the Vets: Stay, Go, Diversity LIVE! event. This year, Liz was voted onto SPVS board to coordinate the SPVS/MMI practice wellbeing awards.

Susan McKay, Director of Companion Consultancy, says: “We are delighted to welcome Liz to the team. She brings with her a wealth of experience and understanding of the veterinary profession, article writing, social media, event management and branding. We share common values and a passion to provide excellent service to our clients. Her vision for creating resources that help the profession ties in perfectly with our ethos and we are excited to start work on some new projects.”
